Testimonials & Case StudiesProduct Test 29 Jan 2007"I first heard about Rust Away last year, and was given a sample to try out. I proved to myself that it did do what it says on the bottle, by using it to clean up a very rusty brake wheel cylinder. I passed the sample onto a friend, who used it over again many times, and finally had to dispose of it. This is easy as the product is bio-degradable, and being water based, can be poured down the drain. I have just purchased two gallons of the stuff, to do the petrol tank and the cooling system of my Morris 8. Cleaning the cooling system was very easy. I drained the system, keeping the antifreeze solution. I then flushed the system using a hose pipe, and finally filled the cooling system with neat Rust Away. Being a water based fluid, I could then start up the engine and get it to operating temperature. I then left it for 24 hours, and took my air cooled car on a club run! The next day I drained out the Rust Away, and replaced it in the bottle, as it can be reused several times. I also flushed the system, before refilling with antifreeze. In the attached two pictures, the first shows clean Rust Away compared to the sample that came out of the block after 24 hours. The second shows the water that came out of the post treatment flush. The big question is will the system run any cooler? This I was unable to test on a chilly January day, but come August I will let you know. I do know that I have removed a great deal of rust from the radiator core, and cleaned up the passage ways in the block. As this product does not attack rubber fittings I did not have to disassemble any parts of the system, which made the job very easy." By Dave Beck |
